Spain: Higher aubergine, courgette and cucumber prices

Prices for Almeria's vegetables remain at acceptable levels. The most noteworthy improvement was that of yellow bell peppers, which reached the 1.60 Euro/kilo by the end of the week.

Aubergine, courgette and cucumber prices increased moderately. In the case of aubergines, taking into account the prices registered at Alhóndiga La Unión, the long variety reached 0.99 Euro/kilo, compared to last week's 0.93. Meanwhile, striped aubergines stood at an average of 1 Euro/kilo.

Regarding courgettes, both the thin and thick varieties remained at 1.25 Euro/kilo. For their part, all cucumber varieties, with the exception of the short one, registered higher prices. The Almeria variety stands at around 1 Euro/kilo, while the French reached 0.90 Euro/kilo, and short cucumber prices dropped by 10 cents, down to 0.90 Euro/kilo.

Tomato, pepper and bean prices were more unstable. In the case of tomatoes, the Daniela variety remained at around 0.54 Euro/kilo and the Pear increased to 0.53 Euro/kilo; however, vine tomato prices dropped by 20 cents, down to 0.65 Euro/kilo.

Red and green bell pepper prices dropped. The former stood at 0.95 Euro/kilo and the latter at 0.79 Euro/kilo. Yellow bell peppers are still on a roll and being sold for above 1.60 Euro/kilo. Meanwhile, the Lamuyo have dropped in value. The red is being sold for 1.14 Euro/kilo and the green for around 0.80 Euro/kilo. Lastly, the Italian varieties remained stable, with the red averaging 0.83 Euro/kilo and the green reaching 1.07 Euro/kilo.

Bean prices have generally dropped, particularly the Helda and long Perona. The former has dropped by almost 0.50 Euro this week, down to 2.05 Euro/kilo, and the latter by 0.30 Euro, down to 1.19 Euro/kilo. The stryke is still the big winner, with prices above the 4 Euro/kilo.
