Yilmaz Radish opened a large processing location at ABC Westland in 2012. The grower has also been offering radish in a flowpack since October 2013, in order to be able to offer the full package to its clients. This customer base consists mainly of retailers from abroad (80%) and the rest of the turnover is realised domestically.
According to Zoef, this winter has gone reasonably well. "The demand isn't especially good or bad, but due to the mild weather the heating costs aren't too high." The grower is satisfied with the new Nickerson-Zwaan variety Autella. "An excellent variety for the winter period. Before this we occasionally had some trouble during the winter, but this is a nice red variety with good foliage and it looks good internally too."

The grower is doing everything to meet the highest quality demands and is therefore doing everything possible himself. This way the entire cultivation, sales and logistics are self provided. "This way we always know what we sell and know the quality of the radish. We recently steamed the ground, which meant we can grow almost problem free radish on clean ground. This is completely different to the open ground cultivations abroad, where it is harder to control cultivation. In the end all supermarkets, at home and abroad, are looking for quality."
