Saint-Gobain diffuse glass available via Van Looveren
Van Looveren of Ranst (Belgium) and Saint-Gobain Cultilene of Tilburg, The Netherlands, are to work together as partners in order to supply high-quality diffuse glass to the international horticultural industry.
The use of diffuse glass within professional horticulture has grown enormously over the past two years. Because a greenhouse has a lifespan of 10 to 15 years, it is important for the grower to choose the best possible glass for the roof and sides.
Van Looveren and Saint-Gobain are not total strangers to each other. In the past, Van Looveren has supplied the horticultural industry with DIAMANT® glass from Saint-Gobain, float glass with a light transmittance value of 91% (PAR light measured in accordance with NEN 2675). Saint-Gobain's Solar division in Mannheim (Germany) produces high-, medium- and low-haze glass under the brand name Albarino which has a sustainable anti-reflective (AR) coating on one or both sides. So now the horticultural sector has access to high-quality diffuse, toughened glass with a highly stable AR coating which is guaranteed to protect the desired properties of the glass throughout the technical service life of a greenhouse.
This glass was recently installed on the roof of the Improvement Centre in Bleiswijk for a research project involving cut flowers.
Van Looveren has built up a longstanding reputation as a supplier of high-quality glass within the international horticultural sector based on its use of the latest promising developments in technology. In order to be able to offer its existing and potential customers the best possible service, Van Looveren has its own laboratory as well as a large strategic stock of glass and is logistically able to guarantee just-in-time delivery to any international construction site.
Saint-Gobain Cultilene is well-known within the horticultural industry as a manufacturer of high-quality and highly homogeneous rockwool substrate. The company is the international market leader in the manufacture of blocks and plugs for use in the propagation of vegetable and ornamental plants. As part of the world’s largest glass manufacturer Saint-Gobain, and with its specific knowledge of water management and greenhouse climate control, Cultilene serves as the portal of this multinational for the international horticultural industry.
