US (PA): Annual poinsettia extravaganza in Oley

The crew at Glick's Greenhouse in Oley had barely wrapped up its New York-themed poinsettia show last year when artist and designer Angela Izzo had a dream about the next show. The dream, a first in the 10 years she had worked on the annual show, was about a circus. Usually, the theme is hotly debated and fleshed out in the summer shortly after the poinsettia root cuttings arrive from Mexico and Guatemala. "Normally, it's kind of stressful to figure out," said Izzo of Boyertown. Turning nearly all of Glick's 14 greenhouses into a Christmas wonderland takes planning and the talents of at least a dozen family members, friends and neighbours. It's a tradition that has only gotten more elaborate over approximately 30 years.
