Netherlands: Additional greenhouse connected to geothermal well A+G van den Bosch

The geothermal well of A + G van den Bosch provides not only heat to its own greenhouse, but also to a neighbouring greenhouse, increasing the capacity considerably.

First geothermal project

The first geothermal project by A + G van den Bosch started in 2007, attempting to heat 7.2 ha. of greenhouses. Since late 2007, the well (1600 meters) has been active and started running with a flow rate of 160 m3. This is higher than the expected 150 m3. Thanks to a powerful pump, production had increased to 210 m3 per hour.

Second project

In 2009, A + G van den Bosch drilled a second doublet to supply another location. Here was drilled to a slightly greater depth (1800 meters) and the temperature is therefore higher in this greenhouse (> 65 degrees). The flow rate is 130 m3 per hour, but could eventually increase further. Then a nearby greenhouse was connected in June 2013.
