Fairtrasa opens new office in Hamburg, Germany

Fairtrasa is an award-winning social enterprise that lifts small-scale farmers out of poverty through its innovative development model and global sales network. Grower-cooperatives in Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Peru offer their premium organic and fairtrade produce directly to European markets through Fairtrasa’s channels. The newly-founded Fairtrasa Deutschland GmbH will provide German consumers greater access to fresh and healthy organic produce from over 5000 small-scale farmers.

Fairtrasa Deutschland’s management team is composed by Dirk Landahl, Christoph Weisbach and Alexander Gewiss who bring together 50 years of experience in the fruit industry. The team agrees, “We are proud to be the newest addition to Fairtrasa’s salesforce in Europe. Fairtrasa Deutschland will build on the Group’s solid relationship with valued customers who not only believe in the quality of our products, but in the unique social mission of Fairtrasa.”

Being the second largest organic food market in the world, Germany presents a significant opportunity for Fairtrasa’s small-scale farmers. “Consumers are increasingly conscious of where their fruits are sourced and the conditions of the people who grow them,” says Patrick Struebi, Fairtrasa CEO and Founder. “Fairtrasa is fortunate to represent our farmers in the German market and offer a traceable link between consumers and thousands of small-scale producers. Every fruit purchase directly benefits a farmer and his community.”
