Netherlands: Rainbow Growers acquire 10 hectare greenhouse in Andijk

The growers group of Rainbow Growers Group Holding together has purchased a unique nursery in Andijk, in the northern part of The Netherlands. It concerns an ultra-modern company with a greenhouse of 10 ha and a site of 32 ha for possible expansion.

Among other things, the company has assimilation lighting, CHP’s and sorting machines. Next to that there is a tracing concession available and there are subsidies assigned in order to be able to develop a project to generate heat energy from the earth. The geological circumstances of the earth for that project are good up to excellent.

Within four weeks the first red bell pepper plants will be planted and grown under light. The sales of the product through the Dutch sales organization Harvest House will start early spring of 2014. General Manager Wim Grootscholten: “Rainbow is a solid group of shareholders who understands the meaning of co-operating, this great investment shows that. Thanks to the solidarity of our growers and their enthusiasm from the right vision of the future”.
