Canada (ON): Brant Federation participates in drought pilot project

Hajnal Kovacs checks the data from a soil moisture monitor set up at one of the participating farms in Brant’s Drought Contingency Pilot Project in the Whiteman’s Creek watershed. Brant County Federation of Agriculture is working in conjunction with several Ministries and the Grand River Conservation Authority to help area farmers assess options as part of a drought contingency plan.

A twilight meeting was held at the end of August to update producers on the project and to explain funding options available to move to an offline water source. The project is funded by Farm and Food Care Ontario.
