Chinese tomato exporters change selling tactics after low crop

Tomato production in China has turned out to be significantly lower than expected this year, igniting a rapid increase in prices of the country's tomato paste. Chinese exporters have been watching the tide and have gradually adjusted their selling strategies, to replenish stocks and to maximise earnings.

The tomato crop is now over. The latest WPTC estimate, in early September, put China's 2013 production at 3.2 million tonnes, although FOODNEWS has not heard of a definite figure yet.
