US: Public comment deadline for food safety regulations nears

The deadline for public comments to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on the proposed Food Safety Modernization Act regulations is November 15, 2013. The National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition has launched a campaign to provide farmers, concerned consumers, and farm, food, and public health organizations with information and resources to be able to effectively comment on the proposed regulations. Information about the proposed regulations, who is affected, and what the top issues are, as well as instructions for how to submit comments to FDA are available at NSAC's FSMA Action Center (http://sustainableagriculture.net/fsma). In addition, Southeastern Massachusetts Agricultural Partnership (SEMAP) has posted a recording of MA Farm Bureau Federation President, Rich Bonanno's recent information session presentation on the FDA's Food Safety Modernization Act.
