Spain: Carcesa exporting to Nigeria, wishes to open African markets

The Spanish firm Carcesa will start exporting its products to Nigeria as part of a goal to access new markets in Africa, which mostly demand whole crushed tomatoes, in the short term.

The president of the cooperative society Acopaex (to which Carcesa belongs), Domingo Fernández, explained that the trading operation in Nigeria is a test with the idea of opening new markets in the African continent, where they wish to gradually increase their sales.

The company is setting up an international department this year, mostly to achieve a better market diversification for any products that have been launched or are to be launched in the future. More than 80% of Extremadura's tomatoes are exported, with Germany and the United Kingdom as its main destinations.
