Russia: 740 hectares of Chinese greenhouses in Chelyabinsk region
Mikhail Yurevich, the Governor of the Chelyabinsk region in Russia, instructed the relevant ministries and agencies to make the activities of semi-legal Chinese greenhouses legitimate and to ensure quality control of their products. According to the governor, the area is interested in the legalization of Chinese business: it has the potential to give a new impetus to the regional agriculture.
“Their business should be tax registered and we need statistical report on their activity. Their production volume is just enormous. If this is actually taken into account in the statistics, the percentage growth of our agriculture will be significant," - said the Governor.
The amount of vegetables produced in Chinese greenhouses of the Chelyabinsk region is many times greater than the needs of the region. The Chinese growers export to Siberia, to the Northern and central regions of Russia. To date, the Chinese greenhouses occupy a territory of 740 hectares.
