After a career of more than fifteen years at The Greenery and its predecessor Van Dijk Delft, Stephane Rion started working at Fortuna Frutos in Barendrecht last week. Stephane Rion, together with Fortuna Frutos Continental, founded Fortuna Frutos International with the intend of expanding the company's product range in addition to the import of Canary tomatoes and cucumbers.

"In recent years we enlisted Dutch and Spanish tomato growers to provide our European retail and foodservice customers with year-round tomatoes, and the establishment of the new company is the next step," says Gert-Jan Slobbe. "I’ve known Stephane since the time of Van Dijk Delft, and when I learned he was looking for a new challenge, I was quick to realise that joining forces was a good idea.”
Fortuna Frutos International will initially focus on the import of vegetables from the Mediterranean. "But I also know my way around the fruit import and the overseas trade, so the next few steps are already factored in,” adds Stéphane. "We will start with a small number of selected suppliers and focus on quality and continuity. We consider Fortuna Frutos International an extension of the grower."
Stephane is optimistic about the future of the new company. "I believe that there is room for new players in the market. I have a wide network of customers and suppliers, and combined with the position that Fortuna Frutos Continental already acquired in the sector, we’re on to a winner!”
