Klaas Althof, from the Dutch company Horti-Cultura, is working on an ambitious project: an international web store for the horticultural sector. Suppliers are enthusiastic, but how do growers feel about it? To find out, the company has conducted a survey.
"For a start, it's really fast," answers Klaas Althof when he's asked about the benefits of shopping online. "Besides you can order any time you want, regardless what time zone you or the company is in. You don't have to wait until they are open and it can be very useful if you need replacement parts, especially when your greenhouse has been installed by a foreign company. You just order the parts and a local installer can do the job."
To Althof, who used to work in the international greenhouse heating and climate technique, the advantages of such a web store are obvious. Now he's obtaining market information via an online survey. The test can be taken in four different languages on the website of Horti-Cultura. By participating you're in the running for an iPad.
