JB Hydroponics launches new system that enables to place gutters around columns
Two separate gutters containing a PVC plate. That is how JB Hydroponics enables growers working in older greenhouses to grow on gutters. It seems like a simple solution. "It doesn’t just seem like a simple solution," says CEO Job Bossers, “It IS a simple solution.”
Usually gutter and substrate supplier JB Hydroponics caters to individual crop situations and comes up with solutions for a specific problem. However, the dual system can be used industry-wide. Instead of a wide gutter, the system consists of two thin gutters. "The gutters can be places around the greenhouse columns if necessary," explains Job Bossers. In short, the gutters do not need to be moved when a column gets in the way.
Left: a gutter placed around a greenhouse column. Right: suspended gutters
The small gutters can be placed on supports, but also suspended. "Very simple actually," confirms Bossers, who has a background in mechanical engineering. "But often solutions are so logical that you just don’t see them.”
