AU: VFF names cut flower grower Owen Brinson new president

The VFF horticulture group has Yarra Valley cut flower grower Owen Brinson its new president. Ms Finger will now act as horticulture director on the VFF board. Mr Brinson said he looked forward to launching into the role. "Victorian grower's face a number of issues and while it will be a learning curve for me, I welcome the challenge to assist the industry remain competitive and viable into the future,'' he said.

Mr Brinson is the chief executive of Peny Bryn Flowers, a wholesale flower farm and florist, based at Silvan. He has been part of the VFF Young Agribusiness Professionals (YAPs) group. He is also president and treasurer of the VFF flowers group, which aims to promote and increase use of flowers in the broader community and represent grower members on policy.

Also representing the VFF horticulture group will be former president Colin McCormack as deputy chair. Former horticulture presidents Peter Cochrane and Rien Silverstein will be on the executive committee.
