Spain: Rijk Zwaan Iberica launches five new tomato varieties
Rijk Zwaan Iberica brings new tomato varieties on the market with something to offer for every type of producer. The varieties are intended for both short and long growth cycles, suitable for salads and pear shaped varieties, says Manolo Hernández, specialist at Rijk Zwaan.
The largest variety is the Pradollano, GG, suitable for a longer growth period, and also suitable for Spring and Summer. The Rayosol is a vine tomato with a long shelf life, dark red in color. The Ramagran, around 140 grams, is long lasting and suitable for a short growth cycle in October and Spring-Summer.
Two new pear shaped tomatoes in the 2013-2014 catalogue of Rijk Zwaan Iberica are the Montemayor and the Monterojo. The Montemayor is suitable for long growth cycle. The Monterojo has regular vine formation and is attractive in colour.
These varieties have been developed in laboratories in La Cañada.
