Kenya: Flower growers get informed about PV installations

Kenya Flower Council in collaboration with Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) organized for a farm visit to Uhuru Flowers in Mt. Kenya. The objective was for the growers to have a firsthand understanding of the design, installation and operation of Solar Photovoltaic (PV) for commercial purposes. Uhuru flowers is one of farm that have solarpioneered in the use of solar power as an alternative source of energy. The farm has installed a PV system with a capacity to generate 72kW of power used in boreholes water pumps, refrigeration, lighting among others. There are 300 solar panels erected on the pack house roof with additional reinforcement on the structure.
