Netherlands: KUBO adds a golden touch to the opening of RedStar Dinteloord

On Saturday 15 June 2013, RedStar Dinteloord officially opened its doors – the doors of the first Ultra-Clima® greenhouse on Dutch soil. The 10-hectare greenhouse is used for growing Redstar’s tomatoes and was developed and built by KUBO in Monster. The KUBO Ultra-Clima® greenhouse sets the standard worldwide when it comes to optimising sustainability, efficiency and food safety in greenhouse cultivation. This highly innovative greenhouse concept has already been introduced in various countries. In the Netherlands the Van de Kaaij brothers were the first to apply it in practice. They started tomato production in their Ultra-Clima® greenhouse at the end of 2012, and both the yield and energy efficiency have exceeded their expectations, as was confirmed by Rob Bal, CEO of RedStar, during his opening speech. The first Ultra-Clima® greenhouse in the Netherlands was then officially taken into operation, and to add lustre to the event KUBO’s Wouter Kuiper presented Theo van der Kaaij and his sons Dirk and Cor with a ‘golden’ foundation pillar.
