Spain: Export price zucchini drops with 14%
The export price of courgettes (or zucchini) dropped with 14.02% in the first half of this year, compared to the same period in the previous year. The average export price is 0.895 Euro per kilo, compared to 1.041 Euro in the same period in 2012, according to figures by Hortoinfo, based on data from FEPEX (Federación Española de asociaciones the Productores y Exportadores de Frutas, Hortalizas, Flores Plantas y Vivas).
During this period, Spain exported a total of 89.00 million kilos of zucchini, with a value of 79.63 million Euro, against 88.95 million kilos in the same period of the previous year, then with a value of 93.65 million Euro.
Slovenia paid the most for the zucchini (€ 1.29 / kg), followed by Poland (€ 1.13 / kg) and Belgium (€ 1.11 / kg). The main buyer was France (27.75 million kilos for 0.86 Euro per kilo), followed by Germany (19.94 million kilos for 0.91 Euro per kilo) and the Netherlands (10.31 million kilos, for 0.88 Euro per kilo).
