Syngenta provides an update on the state of their green pepper varieties, SopraSopra and Overture.
SopraSopra (Tm 3)
The active Sopra acreage in the Netherlands is about 40 ha. It is a smooth crop, and the development to date is fully satisfactory. Due to its generative nature all goes well, despite the low light levels of the last spring. The variety is remarkable for its beautiful dark green color and its rapid fruit development. In combination with a smooth setting, this makes for a nice production results and ditto sales.
Overture (Tm 3, Lt) - (G04104)
Because of the success in the 2012 trials, Overture is now grown on 12 hectares in the Netherlands. The variety has started in order to balance out. Because of its vigour, the variety is sufficiently leave cover to stay cool in summer .This keeps the fruit in excellent quality. The fruits are clearly heavier compared to Sopra and the fruit shape is also nicely balanced throughout the season. Also a big advantage: Overture is insensitive to blossom end rot, even in extreme weather conditions.
