3 hectare new greenhouse for cherry tomato prodcution:

Netherlands: Construction started at Van Leeuwen tomato company

At T & T Van Leeuwen Sweet Lions cherry tomatoes, construction on 3 hectares of greenhouses has started. The added land will bring the total acreage of brothers Thomas and Jordan to 8 hectares. "In November we intend to plant the first tomato plants," says Thomas.

The brothers also intend to use gutters for propagation, a novelty for them. "We are still cultivating on the ground now, but in the new greenhouse we won’t. With this new building we can make more efficient use of the facilities we already have. Our CHP plant has enough power and the same goes for our packaging lines," says Thomas.

That was one of the reasons to remain in their current location. Thomas: "We’ve considered other possible locations, but really it was very clear that we wanted to stay here." Jordan: "In California we have plenty of room to expand in the future. Furthermore: this is a region where it all happens. If there are innovations that fit your business, it is easy to join. And we are very close to the customers.”
