France: New trend to strategic preservation: asparagus growers who earn more money

The new trend of the moment is clearly defined as the ability to manage production peaks. The new challenge is to maintain the quality and avoid the depreciation of the product.

It has been three years now that many producers have been able to see the results of JANNY MT modules, which the company say ensure that profitability is quicker, direct and qualitative. Asparagus becomes even more profitable thanks to a simple and clever preservation.

This is possible thanks to the drastic reduction of asparagus weight losses, and extending their shelf life to 25 days. JANNY MT proposes a strategic preservation that revolutionizes the profitability of asparagus.

Janny MT interviewed a grower from the French province Nord (59), Mister Buisset who knows how to be reactive to new technologies on the market in order to be more competitive. He thinks, “strategic preservation.”

He already has ordinary cold rooms and pallet-boxes that he renews every year when necessary (if broken or damaged). For his asparagus he bought Janny MT lids that he will use for several years (10 on average).

Mr. Buisset shared his economic calculations based solely on the comparison of weight loss, without taking other advantages into consideration that will also apply.

Another big advantage will be the flexibility offered for workforce management in order to minimize these costs on Sundays and holidays when they have to be paid more.

The sales are now organized depending on market prices thanks to the 25 days of flexibility brought by Janny MT.

Mr. Buisset also grows berries and he knows how to benefit from this equipment’s potential. When the asparagus season comes to an end, he uses the same equipment in order to store berries and offer a superior quality in terms of taste and aspect. And of course, always with a very advantageous flexibility in sales - 35 days with blueberries, 40 days with currants, 25 days with cherries.
