Australia: HAL releases update of the Horticulture Handbook
It includes sections on 23 fruits, 32 vegetables, seven nuts and amenity horticulture, such as cut flowers, the nursery and turf industries.
Data includes production volumes, area under crop, farmgate value, gross value of production, imports, exports and consumption, much of it from 2010-11.
According to the handbook, oranges, bananas and apples were the top three fruits by volume, while apples, bananas and strawberries were the top three by value.
The top three vegetables by both volume and value were potatoes, tomatoes and onions.
