Australia: More food chains are turning to local, sustainable produce
The chain this week launched The Eco City Burger, a sustainable burger made from local produce. The burger is topped off with "Darwin Sauce'', made with local beetroot and named after Australia's most sustainable city.
The Eco City Burger has a small eco footprint, with significantly less carbon emissions produced than with a conventional burger. LOTF co-founder Sam Koronczyk said the fast food chain was not taxing the planet as much as most other restaurants because it sourced locally.
"We were excited to be approached by the Sustainable Living Festival to create the official Eco City Burger for the event,'' Mr Koronczyk said. "Being kind to the earth, animals and serving great burgers and chips is what our business was founded on and it's always great to partner with organisations that share our passion for great food.''
