Biobest strengthens management team

Biobest today announced the expansion of its management team with the addition of Nick Steeghs and Herman Van Mellaert. Nick Steeghs joins the company as Director Operations Asia and North America. Nick formerly was Plant Manager at the Syngenta Bioline bumblebee factory. Herman Van Mellaert joins the company as Director Business Development. Herman has extensive expertise in the creation and growth of several life science and biotechnology companies. Both Nick and Herman will be part of the Company’s executive Committee.

The addition of Nick in Operational Management, working together closely with Director Operations Jan Vermeulen, will help the company cope with the challenges associated with a rapid increase in the number and size of production sites across the globe. This is part of the company’s strategy to serve the demand of different
markets for locally adapted species for pollination and biological control.

The expansion of the Business Development team allows to streamline the commercial organization and to integrate business development projects with the sales organization. Group Marketing, Customer Service and Training and Knowledge will report to Herman. Marc Mertens will focus on the sales organization in Europe, Asia, Middle-East and Africa as Sales Director EAMEA. Richard Ward will be the Sales Director for North- and South-America.
