Mictohon presents new automatic spraying robot
The development of the Micothon EX started back in 2010. In the demo environment of Maridadi Flowers, Naivasha Kenya the robot has been brought to perfection and resulted in the new Micothon EX-2. Micothon managed to create a special developed 4 wheel drive and steer system that deals with greenhouse soil diversity. Therefore the driving and steering of the machine can be done by local employees after 5 minutes instruction and secures less physical labor and the absence of contact with sprayed products.
“The market demands safe greenhouse vegetables and flowers. To achieve this goal, manufacturers of crop protection are rapidly developing new products and we focus on the improvement of application technology” says Theo Straathof, general manager of Micothon International. He continues: “The spraying result depends on the plant protection products as well as the spraying technique. For that reason the machine is designed to spray many different crops the best way. The EX-2’s automatic driving results in equal spraying in all area’s of your greenhouse. “
For high plants the vertical booms will be mounted and 3 till 6 rows can be treated in one workflow. For low plants the horizontal boom will be mounted and the whole bay will be treated in one flow too. Theo Straathof: “In case you have a very dense crop, we add our Micothon air assisted spray technology giving you up to 97 % better spray results.”
Because of the reduction use of plant protecting products, the growers return on investment is less than 2 years.
