Netherlands:Growers cooperation FresQ misses out on CAP subsidy

Growers cooperation FresQ will not receive a CAP subsidy in 2013. The Productschap Tuinbouw has not made this available on the Operational Plan for 2013 that FresQ submitted, as FresQ's recognition has been suspended since August 2012. To claim for CAP subsidy for 2013 the Productschap Tuinbouw had to approve FresQ's operational plan before the 20th of January 2013. Last week Productschap Tuinbouw told FresQ that the suspension of the recognition will remain in place and further research must be done.

FresQ's CAP recognition was suspended by the Productschap Tuinbouw after a regular recognition control. The Productschap Tuinbouw has already done an investigation, but believes it is necessary to dig deeper. FresQ has objected to this to Productschap Tuinbouw.

President Tom de Bruin: "This is a huge blow for our members. Due to the bad price formation in the past years and the EHEC crisis in 2011 many companies already have difficulty keeping their heads above water. This means that the developments in the areas of innovation, sustainability, quality and marketing have slowed."
