Germany: IPM 2013 kicks of with over 1,530 exhibitors from 46 nations

Today the IPM 2013 kicks off. Over more than 1,530 exhibitors from 46 nations show the latest on plants and flowers from floristry highlights right up to the newest trends from technology, equipment and services. In an interview with HortiDaily.com, Egon Galinnis, Managing Director of the Messe Essen GmbH, said that the number of exhibitors is on a very high.

"As in the previous year, the number of exhibitors is on a very high level and has risen slightly in this respect. In total, 61 percent of the companies and institutions originate from abroad, that is a new record. We have cooperative booths of exhibitors from 15 nations. This year, the largest exhibitor nations are the Netherlands, followed by Denmark, Italy, Spain, France and Belgium.

How is the fair structured in 2013?

Plants, technology, floristry and equipment are the four pillars of IPM ESSEN. We have successfully extended the technology section this year: 26 percent of the exhibitors have their main focal point in the field of horticultural technology, that is a new record. In addition to the traditional Technology Hall 3, the adjacent Galeria as well as a part of Hall 8 are completely occupied by exhibitors from the horticultural technology section. 14 percent of the exhibitors are accounted for by the floristry section and 60 percent by the plants exhibition section.

What events are amongst the program highlights at IPM ESSEN 2013?

Plants, technology, floristry and equipment are the pillars of IPM ESSEN - and we have programme highlights in all four exhibition sections. We are opening IPM ESSEN 2013 with a ceremonial event. The best innovations in the Innovation Showcase are being honoured here too. Moreover, the Floradania Innovation Award, the Danish prize for plant innovations, is also being conferred on the first day of the fair. During the period of the fair, Hall 1A will be a crowd-puller: The Green City is the knowledge platform and, at the same time, the creative oasis for everything to do with the fields of floristry, equipment, horticulture and plants. A great splendour of colours is one of the trademarks of IPM ESSEN - and it is primarily floral creations which stand for this. In this respect, I am looking forward, in particular, to the stars of the European Cup in 2011. The haute couture of European floral design meets up on the occasion of this spectacular stage show. Further event highlights are the DMF Show with the German Champion of Floristry, the presentation ceremony for the IPM competitions as well as the Colour Your Life Award.
