Certhon with new climate chamber at IPM Essen
The test container displays on a small scale the possibilities of multilayer growing under optimal climatic conditions. A development for which exists a lot of interest, as evidenced by the huge interest on the Horti Fair in Amsterdam last autumn and afterwards. There after the climate chamber has significantly been improved and many aspects are optimized for different applications.
The multilayer cultivation in a closed environment under LED light is a promising development in view of the efficient use of space, the possibilities for a better control of the crop and thereby realizing a uniform quality. Good results have been achieved in increasing the number of spikes in the Phalaenopsis propagation, better bonding of the grafting of tomatoes, the propagation of Chrysanthemums, accelerating the propagation time of lettuce and better rooting of various cuttings.
To optimize all technical aspects Certhon and WPS Horti Systems decided to jointly develop the mobile test container. In this climate cell , all relevant cultivation factors such as temperature, humidity, CO2 dosing and light recipe can be separately controlled. Interested parties can use this container on their own premises to experiment with the latest technologies, without a large-scale approach.
Certhon is a climate and lighting specialist in the horticultural industry and has, as a pioneer in the field of multilayer growing, very successfully put into operation the first multilayer cultivation system for growing of lettuce plants at the company Deliscious in Beesel (NL).
