Netherlands: FloraHolland clock advance sales now include Freesia

From January 2 the Clock Advance Sales will be expanded to include Freesia. Other image auction products will follow. Clock Advance Sales is one of the modernising pilots of FloraHolland intended to strengthen the clock auction. The pilot in Aalsmeer is showing positive results. After originally starting with five product groups (Rose, Anthurium, Alstroemeria, Gerbera and Cymbidium), it now includes Amaryllis, Narcissus, Hyacinth, Muscari, Decorative greenery, Chrysanthemum and the Tulip image auctioning groups. On January 2 Freesia will be added. More than 275 growers and 125 buyers have already registered for Clock Advance Sales. Six customers have linked their webshop to the supply in Clock Advance Sales. A much larger number of companies is preparing to link the supply to their webshops. The daily number of transactions and the turnover display a constant, rising line.

Of the total supply in Clock Advance Sales, almost 25% is actually sold. At the customers' request, the supply will be expanded in the near future. In addition, a number of improvements have been made in the functionality. Along with the already available Clock Advance Sales app for growers (register via www.floraHolland.com), an app for customers will be ready in February 2013. The extension to other export locations depends on the implementation of a uniform auction system and is expected to be complete in the third quarter of 2013 in Rijnsburg and in the fourth quarter of 2013 in Naaldwijk.

How the Clock Advance Sales works

Via Clock Advance Sales growers can already offer a third of their auction production for the next auction day to buyers. The growers set the price themselves. With this new form of direct, digital purchasing, buyers can acquire some of the Clock Supply cut flowers outside the regular auction hours. The purchase is made for a price set by the grower in advance. Between 12:00 and 05:00 hours products can be purchased via Clock Advance Sales or via a link with their own webshop. The products are delivered to the buyers with the regular clock distribution on the next auction day.
