Netherlands: “Habanero season to end with a peak”

Dutch-Moroccan grower/exporter Tizjara sports a divers assortment of exotic vegetables. “Our own production in Morocco ends in January,” explains Hamid Haddouch. “Right now there is a large demand for Habanero peppers, while supplies are low, especially in Holland. So we are in a fairly unique position with our peppers. Prices are high, demand is high, but we’re able to deliver. At the moment we are supplying several European countries.”

“This year we were able to get our Global GAP certification. In time we plan to achieve year-round delivery by starting cultivation in the far south of Morocco.”
The Tizjara assortment includes, besides the Habanero, several varieties of exotic vegetables.

“Popular items are the Rawit and Okra,” says Said Bachaou. “The Rawit is a small chili pepper, much hotter than the Spanish ones. We import them from Kenya.” Tizjara produces and supplies products under the brand Magnifica. “Magnifica products are carefully selected and packaged, guaranteeing its freshness and quality.”
