The group of investors are prepared to lay out close to €8.4 million for the complex. The tomato yield will be 80-85 kg per 1m2 and the cucumber yield- up to 100 kg per 1m2. According to Grohotov, the project should pay for itself within 4 years and shipments will be made to the Far East. The greenhouse complex will be built during 2015 and 2016 and the government has allocated 20 hectares for the Agropark Yuzhny territory. To ensure a continuous harvest year-round, the interplanting method will be used- co-cultivation of adult and young plants in one greenhouse.
“Our region’s policy to attract investors is giving results. We are realising several projects at the same time, connected to cultivating vegetables in greenhouses. We can only provide 95% of potatoes for ourselves, for the rest there is a stable but unsatisfied demand,” said the Governor Vyacheslav Shport at the opening ceremony.
Two greenhouse complexes using hydroponic technologies to cultivate vegetables and greens are already being built in Khabarovsk. One is realized by the Japanese Corporation JGC, together with the company "Energy- Momentum +”, the second belongs to the company "Agrarniye tehnologii budushego" (Agrarian technology of the future) and the Japanese company “Mirai". The total investment in greenhouse projects in the region is more than €21 million until 2020. Greenhouse production of vegetables occupies more than 20 hectares of land in the region.
