Class II aubergines and green zucchini withdrawn from the market in Almería

The end of winter is proving negative for three important horticultural products for Almeria and Granada: long aubergines, striped aubergines, and green zucchini. The changing weather conditions are causing quality problems in the fruits and occasional oversupply issues.

Starting Thursday, March 21, the second-class product of these vegetables can no longer be traded. Only first-class and extra-quality long aubergines, striped aubergines, and green zucchini may still be sold on the fresh market. The standard applies to all producers and traders in Andalusia.

Hortyfruta made this decision after a thorough study of the market situation.

From the moment the standard comes into force, supervision and control of compliance with it also starts. Hortyfruta and the Ministry of Agriculture have established a system to verify and control compliance with the agreement in the facilities of the companies that work with products from Andalusia.

Hortyfruta will continue to conduct a thorough analysis to assess how the situation of these vegetables evolves.
