"Solar energy generation should not come at the expense of cultivation"

Enforcement against 'elevated solar field' on greenhouse initiated

Glastuinbouw Nederland has submitted an enforcement request to the municipality of Venlo against an elevated solar park in a greenhouse horticulture area. It has since led to the municipality initiating an enforcement process.

The process consists of three phases: a warning, an intention to enforce action, and finally, the imposition of an enforcement measure. "We are now at the second step: the intention to enforce action. It has already been indicated that any use other than agricultural use is not allowed," a spokesperson for the municipality told Omroep Venlo. "The generation of solar energy should be secondary and must not replace cultivation under glass, as established in the New Energy policy framework."
