"Our producers have increased production areas of yellow, red, and green peppers"

The Turkish bell pepper exports are increasing this season, according to Emel Esin Keskin, owner of Turkish fresh produce exporter Esin Tarim: "Tomatoes take the first place in vegetable exports from Turkey, followed by lemons and bell peppers. Our bell pepper exports continue to increase at high rates this season, making both exporters and producers happy. While Russia ranks first in buying Turkish bell peppers, Germany, Poland, and Romania are seen as the best markets for Turkish exporters."

Keskin states that almost all of the Turkish bell pepper production is exported to other countries. "In the last three years, our producers have increased their production areas of yellow, red, and green peppers. On average, sixty tons of yield is obtained per hectare, and ninety percent of the production is sent to the foreign market. Our products, which have absolutely no drug residue, have no problems at European entry gates."

Turkish bell peppers are grown both in summer and in winter, with greenhouses being the solution when the weather gets colder, Keskin explains: "Bell pepper cultivation is mostly done in the Mediterranean region of Turkey. Our peppers are grown in gardens and fields during the summer months and in greenhouses during the winter months. We attach great importance to the wholesale sale of seasonal vegetables. We have a wide range of pepper products in stock, reducing prices significantly."

Keskin emphasizes that Esin Tarim takes all precautions to ensure the product exported is residue-free. "Necessary training and support is regularly provided to our farmers for residue-free production and quality production. The Turkish Ministry of Agriculture keeps things very strict regarding health checks. Therefore, although there are long queues at the control gates, our bell peppers can maintain their freshness for a long time," she concludes.
