The Dutch bell pepper season is about to start. "The acreage hasn't changed much since last season. There are, however, some shifts in the colors planted across the country. There are slightly more red and slightly fewer yellow bell peppers. Most growers chose the same variety for the red and orange ones. For yellow and green bell peppers, though, they selected a wider range of varieties," says Harvest House bell pepper seller Marco Bergman.
"Cultivation is looking excellent. Thanks to calm weather conditions, the plants had stable first and second settings. The first Dutch bell peppers in various colors should be available in week 12. From then on, we can start supplying retailers with our produce again."
"There will also be bell peppers from Spain available. Experience shows that sales from there and Spain run parallel in the first weeks of the Dutch season. Both countries meet European retailers' needs until the Spanish bell peppers are no longer available. We confidently look forward to a successful 2024 bell pepper season," Marco concludes.
