Jordan fruit & veg exports decline by 35%

Jordan's exports of fruits and vegetables for January totaled around 19,400 tons, of which 1,428 tons were exported to the Arab Gulf states. In total this amounted to a decline of around 35% compared to the same month last year.

Ministry of Agriculture spokesman Nimer Haddadin attributed the decline to the domestic production season of those countries as well as their focus on local crops and the competition from some countries, such as Egypt and Iran, which has made Jordanian exporters search for a competitive advantage to compete in foreign markets in terms of quality and price.
