Hoogstraten and BelOrta promote Flandria peppers in France

In the framework of the promotion of Flandria peppers in France Veiling Hoogstraten and BelOrta bundled their powers together. Both auctions represent 100% of the Belgian production. Over 150 ha of peppers, divided into four colours, are grown under a Flandria flag. Over 50% of this is from the Netherlands.

"France is an important market for us in the sales of fruit and vegetables," according to Sales & Marketing Manager Jan Engelen of Veiling Hoogstraten. "This is also the case for peppers, even with increasing potential year by year. In collaboration with our exporters we supply both retail and wholesale."

"For the second year in a row the pepper producers from both auctions are investing in a promotion campaign in France," says Maarten Verhaegen, Division Manager Sales BelOrta. "A combination of activities on the whole sale markets complemented by retail offers will accentuate our Flandria peppers."

"The response is very satisfying, the interest in Flandria products is big. Buyers are particularly attracted by the quality. At the moment the Belgian peppers are strongly priced, which makes for a lot of competition with Spain. This will sort itself when the production in Belgium continue to increase and the Spanish production decreases."
