Data-driven crop management takes central stage at Delphy Digital Summit

On Wednesday, March 20 the 'Delphy Digital Summit' took place in Kingsville, Canada, the theme of which was: data-driven crop management. Max van den Hemel and Niels van der Geest, both Crop Engineers at Delphy Digital, kicked off the afternoon with the questions: digitization, what does it entail exactly? How do I digitize my crop management? They made this concrete by explaining how to create added value from your data using QMS Tomato. Growers and consultants use QMS Tomato from Delphy to develop a cultivation strategy. With this program, they showed several practical examples of how insights into cultivation can be gained based on data. Max van den Hemel stated, "The program also supports the grower in making cultivation decisions."

Guest speaker Cees Ammerlaan from BASF Nunhems took the audience through the role digitization plays in breeding and monitoring different varieties. Cees emphasized the collection of high-quality data already obtained from varieties in the pre-commercial phase.

Mechatronix was a sponsor of this summit. They recently started their local production of LED lamps in Leamington to provide their customers in this region of the world with lighting installations through the new facility. There was ample opportunity for conversation and discussion about the information delivered during the breaks. With growers from the region and various suppliers from the sector, there was a broad and interested audience present.
