Following the success of the tube rail lift for fruit vegetables, a new model designed specifically for strawberry farming has been introduced. This variant is equally based on the principle of Wiel Nies' original invention. The lift mechanizes heavy lifting. Richard Frenken of FB Engineering launched this innovative product to the market and will showcase the strawberry version at this year's HortiContact in Gorinchem.
The tube rail lift features an arm that is equipped with two rollers that guide the tubes of the heating loop. The cart on swivel wheels consistently follows the tube rail as its arm ensures precise steering.
With a capacity of 0.5 kW, the lifting hook, which is attached to a winch, lifts the tube rail to the desired height. the hook can lift 250kg. Subsequently, the tubes are attached to a vertical cable or hook. Afterward, the tube rail lift, powered by a quiet 0.8 kWh gasoline generator, proceeds to the next point. Then the process repeats.
Renting
The tube rail lift is available for nearly every size. The machine not only lifts the tube rails but importantly, also realigns them precisely. It requires only one person to operate the machine. Employing the tube rail lift, growers can clean the greenhouse even during shorter days by temporarily elevating the tube rails. By adding an LED spotlight to the tube rail lift, operations can also be carried out in the evening or early morning.
Growers can purchase the tube rail lift from FB Engineering as it was scaled up last year. From 2024 onwards, rental services will also be available. "We tested this last autumn with one of our users. Currently, we have eight carts available for rent," states the company.
