Fruit Logistica in pictures: Technique photo report

Three days of Fruit Logistica are over again. It was another successful fair in Berlin, Germany, with a pleasantly busy Holland Hall 3.2 and around it also halls for horticultural technology. They seemed a little quieter, but overall, exhibitors were pleased with their previously arranged meetings, and the growers met on the floor.

With horticultural technique hall 3.1 and a CEA workshop program, Fruit Logistica shows they would like to see growth in Berlin's technology sector. It is said that the trade fair organization is committed to gradually further clustering horticultural technology in that hall, and thus, possibly a decrease in the number of technology parties in the busier hall 3.2.

In terms of novelties, it was relatively quiet as several companies announced saving their novelties for GreenTech - but we found some. In addition to these greenhouse novelties, several breeders brought new products. Key remains beating the rugose virus, as this is the most looked at resistance. We'll update you in the coming weeks.

Zoltan Sejpes from Food Autonomy with Arjen Janmaat from Ridder. Due to the newly implemented protocol for installing lighting, the installation of lamps has recently gone very smoothly. It's one of the first projects to be completed in this way - we'll share more news soon.

Koppert did have an introduction to celebrate: a new packaging solution for Macrolophus pygmaeus, as shown by Alexandra Kastelijn and Tim Bossinga. Mirical, as the product has it, promptly won the Fruit Logistica Innovation Award for technology. This prize was awarded for the first time, in addition to the regular prize.

Marcus Brezina and Alexander Hollmuller from Hueck Folien told us more about their newly launched anti-condensation film, Nowogreen. "ETFE films enable a lightweight yet particularly robust construction. The films can withstand extreme weather conditions for decades. The self-cleaning outer surface enables optimum light and UV transmission. On the inside, the innovative hydrophilic coating ensures that rising condensation forms a full-surface film of water that drains off the sides of the structure in a controlled manner. No drip formation, unrestricted light transmission, and flawless harvested products."

Hortilux introduced a brand new LED product line: the Hortilux NXTLED. According to them, this fixture has an efficacy of up to 4.1 μmol/J and a power of up to 1400W. Read more about it here.
