Many attended the meeting with CBC Europe technicians:

Biological and sustainable control also useful for traditional companies

Over 70 growers took part in the technical meeting organized on January 23, 2024, by Vivai Garattoni in the presence of CBC Europe technicians. The meeting was held in San Mauro Pascoli (Forlì-Cesena), in the heart of the vegetable production area, and it focused on "Biological and integrated control techniques: from the nursery to the field." Technicians from CBC illustrated the new structure that is developing after the entry of Bioplanet in the CBC group.

Stefano Foschi from Bioplanet CBC was the first to speak. "Today, the market is requiring very little to zero residue also when it comes to the standard produce. Our production of useful insects is very much in demand abroad as well, so much so that 50% of the turnover comes from there. 90% of our clients are made up of traditional companies that still want a more effective defense that respects the environment and production."

"How can we be useful to you? There are useful nematodes that counter the parasites infesting your crops. Useful insects can indeed be used in traditional companies and help overcome the lack of active principles and the resistances to the chemical molecules parasites have developed over the years."

Stefano Foschi

Many asked for more in-depth information about specific insects. "Orius is the most popular against thrips and other harmful insects. It is very suitable for strawberries and bell peppers, as well as for eggplants and cucumbers. Another useful insect is the peat mite, which eats larvae and thrips as well as other general mites."

Marco Ardizzoni

After Foschi, it was the turn of Marco Ardizzoni, who stressed how the synergy between Bioplanet CBC's useful insects and CBC Biogard's microbiological crop protection problems is perfect for effective biocontrol strategies for truly sustainable crop protection.

"These synergies solve problems such as Tetranychidae mites by studying the matter and aiming at putting truly innovative technical means at the service of companies," said Ardizzoni.

"The quality of these products is essential, and the use of specific strains of entomopathogenic fungi, viruses, and bacteria enables a targeted defense against insects. The application of these techniques right from the nursery helps develop chain strategies and introduce plantlets to the fields for which defense has already been arranged. Biological and integrated defense finds a scientific and rational answer."
