The four Belgians chose for a second, larger location in Westdorpe. What was their driving force for choosing this area? And how do they like it in the province of Zeeland? During a recent conference at the Bio Base Europe Trainings Center in Terneuzen, these questions were answered by grower Koen Neyens.
Koen Neyens, Wim Wuyts, Geert Neyens and Jos Wuyts from the Verenigde GroententuindersKoen states that he is satisfied, or actually very satisfied. Verenigde Groentetuinders VGT want to practice sustainable, socially responsible and future-oriented greenhouse horticulture. With the construction of the greenhouses in Westdorpe, the residual heat and CO2 of the Yara plant in Sluiskil is connected to the greenhouses. That fits in with the mission of VGT.
VGT experiences a good and reliable heat supply via WarmCo2. "The heat supply is stable and reliable. That's important to be able to grow properly. Startup problems are always there." Also, the CO2 delivery is as it should be. A stable consumption is not always possible to realize for the growers.
The company in Westdorpe of VGT consists of two identical companies and the greenhouses are tightly aligned next to each other. Koen: "That works efficiently, and that's important for daily operations." It stands on a beautiful square plot. The technical area is on the north-east side of the plot.
