Innovative blueberry cultivation in east China's Anhui province

In Shizi township, Langxi county, Anhui Province, China, an advanced blueberry planting base is leveraging soil-less cultivation methods within its greenhouses. Utilizing pots for growth, the facility incorporates intelligent irrigation and climate control systems to optimize water and nutrient delivery to the plants. This approach is a departure from traditional soil-based cultivation, aiming to enhance efficiency and fruit quality through the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technology, supported by 5G connectivity.

Mei Yihe, the head of the base, highlighted the use of innovative cultivation methods to achieve superior results. Mei Wei, Mei Yihe's daughter, recently returned to her hometown from Shanghai to join the family business, managing blueberry cultivation through mobile technology. This digital approach to agriculture has not only streamlined operations but also generated employment for nearly 1,000 local residents in various roles, from construction to sales. The full coverage of 5G networks in Shizi township further supports the digital transformation of agriculture in the region.
