Eight hectares dedicated to Sabrosa-Candonga:

"I used to be a supplier, now my own strawberries are in markets and supermarkets"

This is the success story of Giovanni Passarelli, an under-30-year-old entrepreneur who has always had a passion for farming and who owns a company of the same name, which specializes in growing strawberries. The company has gradually expanded, both in terms of production and sales and has become a reliable supplier of strawberries.

"For five years, I've conferred with a well-known producer organization based in Metapontino (Basilicata - Italy), but the desire to go beyond being an intermediary led me to also take on the marketing aspect, fully aware of the difficulties and responsibilities I would have to face. It is always a pleasure to see my crates of strawberries go to dozens of wholesale markets, but I have always imagined that one day, I would see trays of my strawberries and my brand on supermarket shelves. In the current season, 10 hectares are devoted to strawberries: 8 hectares are dedicated to Sabrosa-Candonga and 2 hectares to NSG 465 - Rossetta."

Passion, dedication, and determination have allowed Passarelli to make great strides and stand out in the marketplace. "Currently, more than 3 tons of strawberries are harvested every day. Treviso, Milan, Bologna, Bergamo, Padua, Florence and Novara are just some of the wholesale markets supplied. An average of 90 parcels of strawberries are sent to each of these markets every day."

500-gram trays destined for the large-scale retail trade sector

"Moreover, there are quantities reserved for the large-scale retail trade in Apulia, which is about to start with the distribution channel in San Marco Argentano and Gricignano. Every day, I send 350 1-kg barrels, which add up to a few dozen 500-gram pots. These are certainly insignificant quantities," concludes the entrepreneur, "but they are already very important for those who have started from scratch. The demand seems to be more dynamic, especially in the last week."
