Bogdan Lutchyn, co-owner of FG "Berry Prykarpattia," located in Ukraine, specializes in growing strawberries and peppers in greenhouses. According to farmer, there are four essential factors contributing to the success of greenhouse berry farming:

  • Prevention over Cure: Lutchyn emphasizes the importance of preventing diseases rather than treating them.
  • Creating Optimal Microclimate: The greenhouses at "Berry Prykarpattia" are covered with a specific film that blocks 30% of ultraviolet rays, providing a comfortable environment for plants throughout the season. Additionally, they grow day-neutral strawberries, allowing for a continuous harvest from early spring to late autumn.
  • Maintaining Air Humidity: Lutchyn stresses the significance of maintaining air humidity at 60-65% within the greenhouse.
  • Employing "Hired Insects": Lutchyn advocates for the use of bumblebees as "hired insects" for pollination within the greenhouse.

By adhering to these principles, greenhouse berry farmers can enhance their chances of success and achieve optimal yields.
