Kistler Gemüsebau is planning a new greenhouse facility spanning some 10 hectares

Reichenburg-based Kistler Gemüsebau AG (Canton of Schwyz) is planning to construct modern, large-scale greenhouses. A vote on the rezoning of the land is set for March 3. To provide these foodstuffs year-round, film tunnels and air-conditioned double film tunnels are necessary. Along with the movable tunnels, Kistler covers about eight hectares of land with plastic greenhouses in the Neuland area. However, these tunnels have aged. "They cannot be operated as energy-efficiently as modern alternatives," Peter Kistler argues.

Peter Kistler is planning a modernization for his company. Some 10 hectares around the Neuland farm are to be developed in two construction phases into glasshouses eight to ten meters high. Kistler's greenhouses would be located on the land of the General Genossame Reichenburg. For this intensified use with structural measures, a rezoning of the Genossame land from an agricultural zone to a special agricultural zone for vegetable cultivation is necessary.
