Reichenau-Gemüse eG showcases at Biofach:

"Over 50 percent of total revenue is generated through organic cultivation"

"Regional Fresh Vegetables Taking Off!" With this slogan, Reichenau-Gemüse actively participated in Biofach, which took place last week in Nuremberg. Biofach is the world's leading trade fair for organic food. Biofach is seen as the place where people share their passion for organic food and the organic market, get to know each other, and exchange ideas. Reichenau-Gemüse is exhibiting at the "Taste the South Baden-Württemberg Joint Stand" together with 16 other companies.

On average, 14,000 tons of fresh vegetables, produced by over 40 gardeners, are marketed by the producer cooperative "Reichenau-Gemüse eG." There are different conditions in production: state-of-the-art greenhouses in Hegau and smaller, family-run horticultural businesses on the island, but everywhere, vegetables are grown with heart, mind, and love. This guarantees the high quality of Reichenau-Gemüse.

Harvest kickoff for greenhouse lettuces
On the island of Reichenau, the season has already started early in the year. The fresh greenhouse lettuces are already in full harvesting due to the high sunlight exposure. This will be followed by tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, or eggplants, as well as a diverse range of open-field products like various types of cabbage, fennel, celery, or salads.

Pioneers in organic farming
Starting this year, large quantities of organic sweet potatoes are also available throughout the year. The high production standard is underscored, confirmed, and continuously monitored by the Bio-BW label as well as certifications according to Bioland or Naturland guidelines. It is very pleasing that already over 50% of the total turnover is grown in organic quality and offered to consumers. In terms of volume, Reichenau-Gemüse and its associated producers have already reached the desired share of organic vegetables set by the state, federal government, and the EU.
