Kazakhstan: entrepreneurs explore lemon and banana farming techniques in Saryagash district of Turkestan

Turkestan is making strides in agriculture, with Saryagash emerging as a hub for greenhouse farming. Recently, a delegation of entrepreneurs from Sauran district embarked on a learning journey to Saryagash, facilitated by the local authorities, to delve into the nuances of greenhouse farming.

The delegation visited the "Agrotour" farm, which boasts vast expanses totaling 15 hectares, with 4 hectares dedicated solely to greenhouses. Noteworthy is their nursery, 1 hectare, producing 20-25 million seedlings yearly. In one of the greenhouses (2 hectares), they cultivate a Dutch variety of roses. Experimental greenhouse areas, spanning 0.12 hectares, caught the eye of the visitors as they observed the cultivation of bananas, papayas, and strawberries.

Next on their itinerary was a visit to the expansive "Zhabai Ata" farm, covering 29 hectares, predominantly allocated to lemon cultivation across 7 hectares, with the remaining 22 hectares devoted to strawberries and vegetables, destined for both regional and international markets, yielding over 3500 tons annually

Their learning journey ended at the "Abduraman" farm, covering 33 hectares, specialising in strawberry cultivation without heating systems. With plans to produce 500 tons of strawberries annually, the farm's greenhouse will expand from 2.5 to 10 hectares by year-end.
